In this article, we discuss everything you need to know about holidays and time off at SpanishVIP.
Student Success is at the cornerstone of everything we do. We take steps to accommodate our staff so that they have the tools they need to work productively. This includes time off and minimal scheduled service “downtime” for technical tasks and curriculum development.
- Holidays (US/Colombia)
- Vacations
- Scheduled Downtime
Note: Scheduled time off for teachers will not affect your subscription. This is generally considered standard downtime on our services and thus would not constitute any changes or extensions of your subscription for classes missed. For group classes, we attempt to minimize this; and for students taking tutoring, our teachers will try to accommodate rescheduling lost classes, where possible.
Team Holidays
We observe holidays in the US, as well as select, important holidays in Colombia. This is due to the fact that most of our team is based in Colombia.
Besides the cultural significance of holidays, we find it to be important to provide these paid holidays to our team members. Teaching is an incredibly rewarding profession, but it is also emotionally taxing for our staff. They need time to decompress, spend time with their loved ones, and reset their energy so that they return to your classes and give you the best they can.

Vacations & Sick Days
Our teachers receive paid vacation and sick days.
If you have a private tutoring subscription, we may be able to pause your subscription if a delay of more than 3 days occurs. However, these kinds of service interruptions are rare.
Scheduled Downtime
There are a few reasons for sparingly scheduling downtime on your service. The largest reasons are technical assistance, ongoing training, and curriculum development.
To ensure you receive the best service possible, we reserve the right to infrequently schedule this time off as it is necessary for success. Our teachers need time to sharpen their tools so that you continue receiving 5-star service.
