Do I need a webcam and microphone for my classes?

Most of our students use both a headset and a webcam in their classes. However, neither is explicitly required for your classes.

As long as your audio quality is high enough, this is all you need for your classes. Dialing in by your phone for audio (if taking private classes on Zoom) is effective when you do not have a headset or headphones with a decent microphone. Most headphones/earbuds priced at $10 or above usually have good enough quality for a video call.

We understand that you may not have a webcam; or perhaps you would like to refrain from using a webcam for various reasons (to protect the identity of your child, to alleviate stress or social anxiety). This is perfectly fine!

Using a Webcam is Recommended

With the above in mind, if you are open to using your webcam, we can recommend this for the value it provides in building stronger connections with your teachers and peers when taking group classes.
