Our recruitment process ensures we hire the right kind of candidates — our training process moulds them into the best teacher they can possibly be.
For a hammer, every problem seems like a nail. We have worked with enough students to know that creativity and deep, multi-faceted knowledge are the keys to success in working with a variety of different kinds of students.
All cases are unique. The types of lessons, activities, and approach that works for one student is not guaranteed to work or be enjoyable for another. For this reason, our training methodology is a 3-prong approach.
1. The onboarding process
Upon joining the team, every teacher is taken through our guiding principles, the curriculum they have at their disposal, and trained on all of the tools they’ll need for the job.
Adopting a philosophy of an individual-first, efficiency-oriented approach is critical. No teacher will have the knowledge required to perfectly support every kind of student when they first begin the job. However, we prepare them with the problem-solving and investigative skills required and instruct them to lean on the student success team for support.
Over time, our teachers develop a deep understanding of potential obstacles and the action necessary to push past them.
2. The support of student success
The chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Our Student Success team is the defense against any weakness we may encounter.
Throughout the entire time a teacher works at SpanishVIP, they’ll have the support of an interoperable team that interfaces between student and teacher. This Student Success team is trained in the art and science of developing effective programs for our students.
When a teacher has a question, this team has the answers.
3. Peer-led ongoing development
A wise person once said that all of us are smarter than any of us. The collective experience of the SpanishVIP staff is something that we leverage in a meaningful way.
Every month, our team has meetings to learn and discover. We provide the platform for them to connect and share lessons learned so that each teacher can benefit from peer experience.
This practice of ongoing development allows our teachers to get the proactive feedback they need to effectively manage and optimize student classes.
