We offer the flexibility to pause your subscription for any reason without incurring additional charges.
Some private tutoring and group class subscriptions at SpanishVIP may be paused for a period of up to six consecutive months. Please note that after this period, your subscription will automatically reactivate (regardless of whether you have resumed attending classes or not).
Important notes for pausing private subscriptions
- One-month subscriptions are not eligible for pauses due to the short duration of the commitment. This policy ensures continuity and stability in the scheduling and allocation of resources, including the availability of teachers.
- We do not provide full pauses under 2 weeks. If you wish to stop classes for less than two weeks, your subscription will remain active from a billing standpoint. During this time, your teacher will utilize the opportunity to develop new customized lessons and activities, enhancing your learning experience upon your return.
- If you decide to pause your private classes subscription for over two weeks, we will pause your billing cycle during this time. It's important to understand that your dedicated teacher might be reassigned to another student during the pause. While we cannot ensure that the same teacher will be available upon your return, we will endeavor to match you with your original instructor, especially if your schedule is flexible.
- If you are pausing classes for more than two weeks but wish to retain your dedicated teacher, you may choose to suspend your classes while keeping your billing active. This arrangement ensures that your teacher dedicates their time to enhancing curriculum materials, as outlined earlier, providing a tailored learning experience. Additionally, we can offer customized self-study materials for periods when one-on-one sessions are not feasible with your teacher.
- You can pause your subscription billing for up to six consecutive months. You can pause your classes at no additional cost, whether you're taking a break for travel, work, university, or any other reason. We understand life can be unpredictable, and we want to ensure you can easily return to your lessons whenever you're ready.
- We can accommodate limited pauses per subscription for private tutoring students (once for a three-month subscription and twice for a six-month subscription). Each pause must be at least two months apart. For example, if your last pause ended and you resumed classes on January 1st, you would need to wait until March 1st to be eligible for another pause.
- Subscriptions with less than four weeks of private tutoring remaining do not qualify for pauses. However, you are welcome to extend your subscription in this case so that you can qualify for a pause!
- Pauses do not apply to special discount pricing. We may evaluate exceptions, but this requires advanced approval from our Student Success Team and would only apply to extreme cases.
Upon reactivating your subscription, we will endeavor to reconnect you with your preferred teacher, although we cannot guarantee this. Should you be assigned a new teacher, your previous teacher will contact them to provide details about your learning progress and preferences. Rest assured that we are committed to ensuring your satisfaction with your new instructor, just as with your previous one.

Why are there limitations on private subscription pauses?
While we recognize the need for flexibility and will continue to accommodate subscription pauses, it is important to note that frequent pauses can strain our resources. They result in idle periods for our teachers and require special assistance in internal processes by the Student Success Team. Maintaining high-quality, affordable education requires careful management of these pauses to ensure we can sustainably compensate our professional staff and attract top talent.
Group class subscriptions are more flexible regarding pauses due to their lesser impact on our operations.

Class cancellation policy
Do you need to cancel your class? Please read our full policy on SpanishVIP class cancellations below.
1. For group classes:
If you are unable to attend a scheduled group class, please cancel your attendance through our scheduling system. Doing so allows our teachers to prepare more effectively and opens up spaces for other students, especially if the class is nearing capacity.
For administrative reasons, holidays, vacations, the health of our teachers, or similar considerations, we may occasionally cancel certain group classes. Please be assured that any classes canceled by us will not adversely affect your subscription. We strive to minimize disruptions to your class schedule, ensuring you can continue your studies with minimal interruption.
2. For private classes:
We encounter two different kinds of cancellations for private classes students.
- Private classes canceled by a student
If you must cancel a class, please inform your teacher via email. This will allow them to use the time to further tailor your curriculum. Since you were responsible for the class cancellation, rescheduling your lost class will only be possible if your teacher has time available in their schedule.
Please note that canceled classes will not extend your subscription, as our costs remain fixed despite absences.
- Private classes canceled by a teacher
Rarely, our teachers may face internet issues, illness, or personal matters that necessitate class cancellations, which we ensure are limited to extenuating circumstances.
If your teacher cancels a class, we strive to accommodate rescheduling based on their availability and your schedule. Please contact your teacher to explore possible rescheduling options.
Please note that canceled classes will not extend your subscription period. However, we are committed to helping you reschedule within your current subscription timeframe.
